Set up your Shopify store to work with AI agents through ChatCast's public MCP server.
For AI agent developers
This guide is for merchants setting up their store. If you're a developer looking to connect an agent to a store, see the Quick Start guide instead.
1. Install from the Shopify App Store
Install ChatCast from the Shopify App Store. The installation creates your brand account, store, and user automatically via Shopify OAuth. No manual account creation is required.
2. Access the Brand Console
Log into the brand console at console.chatcast.io. Once installed, ChatCast enriches your product catalog with AI-generated descriptions and FAQs. This process runs automatically in the background.
3. Enable Public MCP
Navigate to Settings > AI Access in the brand console and toggle Public MCP Server on.
When you enable public MCP, your store receives a unique public ID and the MCP endpoint goes live. AI agents can then connect to your store and access your product catalog, FAQs, and policies.
4. Find Your Store Public ID
Your Store Public ID is displayed on the Settings > AI Access page after enabling public MCP. This ID is used in the MCP endpoint URL that you share with AI agent developers.

When public MCP is enabled, AI agents can access the following data in read-only mode:

Write operations
Two tools create database records without authentication: register_agent and get_my_discount_code. These are intentionally open to enable frictionless agent onboarding. See Authentication for details.
6. Configure Commission Rates (Optional)
Set a default commission rate for AI agents that refer customers to your store. The default is 8%. You can adjust this under Settings > AI Access in the brand console.
You can also create time-limited campaigns with bonus commission rates and customer-facing discounts. See the Agent Commissions guide for how the commission program works.
7. Share Your MCP Endpoint
Share your MCP endpoint URL with AI agent developers so they can connect to your store:
